Good maps make
good government.

What Fair Maps America is working toward, and the year-by-year plan to get there.

Our Mission

Better maps are within reach.

Good maps make good government. We are building a coalition of citizens and lawmakers who want district lines everyone can trust.

Build a coalition Educate citizens Maps that make sense
The national effort2030

After the 2030 Census, every U.S. House map is redrawn. Congress has clear authority to set common-sense standards for how it is done. We are building a base of informed voters across the country, so that when the moment comes, the support is already there.

The Illinois effort2028

Illinois votes on a fair maps amendment in 2028, two years ahead of the federal cycle. The campaign has its own database of Illinois supporters and its own field plan, and a win here shows the rest of the country what fair maps look like in practice.

The plan: now to 2031

Three goals. A year-by-year path.

We are not waiting until the maps are drawn to start organizing. Everything we do serves three commitments, on a timeline that runs from today through the next redistricting.

Goal one

Move Congress

Help Congress set clear, workable fair-districting standards for U.S. House maps nationwide.

Goal two

Own the issue

Become a trusted source of information and counsel on gerrymandering reform.

Goal three

Amend the Illinois Constitution

Win a constitutional requirement that Illinois legislative districts be drawn fairly, for good.
